Our balance boards are based on circles of 3 different sizes. The size of the circle affects how the board moves and feels under your feet and the ways that you can use the board. Arcs are what we call the curved piece of wood under the board that you rock on (see the diagram to the left).
Boards with the smallest arc have a very narrow balance point and are our most challenging boards. Boards with the largest arc have a wide base of support and they rock with a gradual, fluid and rhythmical motion. The movement on the boards with moderate arcs is not as sudden as our most challenging boards, but the balance point is still small enough for engaging balance work and play.

The top of the board
All of our balance boards are made entirely from a hardwood plywood called baltic birch. The rocking platform is either left natural wood, covered with a durable upholstery or vinyl material, or carpeted with carpet tiles. Black grip tape patterns are applied on the wood and fabric tops to create a non-slip surface. The carpeted top provides good grip throughout the board, and comfort when used for sitting or lying down. Carpet is only offered for the gradual arc boards.
